Why virtual cards
A virtual card works exactly like a physical card for online payments, but it lives in your Payvora app instead of your wallet. Because each card can be locked, limited, or deleted independently, they're the safest way to pay online.
Issue one card per purpose — a card for subscriptions, another for advertising spend, another for a contractor — and every payment lands in your transaction history labelled and easy to reconcile.
Issuing your first card
Cards are issued from the Cards page once your account is verified. Choose the network, give the card a name, set a spending limit, and it's ready to use within moments.
Card details are revealed only when you ask for them, and each reveal requires your confirmation — an extra layer of protection against shoulder-surfing and accidental exposure.
- Name each card after its purpose so statements stay readable
- Set a spending limit that matches the card's real budget
- Fund cards from your wallet balance, and top up only what you need
Funding and spending limits
Virtual cards spend from a dedicated balance, so a compromised card can never drain your main wallet. Move funds onto the card when you need them, and keep the rest of your money out of reach.
Limits are enforced at the card level: when a card hits its cap, further charges are declined until you raise the limit or top it up. This makes runaway subscriptions impossible.
Lock, unlock, and delete
Every card has a one-tap lock. Locked cards decline all new charges instantly — perfect for pausing a subscription you're cancelling or a card you don't use daily — and unlock just as fast when you need it again.
If a card number is ever exposed, delete the card and issue a fresh one. Payments move to the new card while the old number becomes worthless to anyone who has it.
Cards for teams
On business accounts, cards scale to your team: issue a card per employee or per vendor with individual limits, review all card activity in one place, and switch off any card the moment a project ends.
